What to Expect When Visiting NCC

We're aware of the fact that it can be a bit daunting to visit a church for the first time, so we've created this page to give you some helpful information about what to expect. If you have additional questions, feel free to give us a call at (810) 732-0500. Before Service New Creation Church has weekly worship services on Sundays at 11:00 a.m ~ Sunday School at 10:00 a.m. We are located in township of Flint, MI - Here is a Map to New Creation Church. Our services start on time and last approximately 90 minutes. Children's Ministry for infants through 6th grade is offered during all services. Each service can also be seen and heard in our Fellowship Area next to the gymnasium which serves as a "play room" for families with restless children. In addition, the women's restroom by the south entrance has a lounge (ideal for nursing mothers), and both the men's and women's restrooms feature diaper changing tables. By the way, our attendees dress in a variety of styles. So whether you are dressed casually or in your "Sunday best", you will not feel out of place. When you arrive for service, you may park in any available space in our parking lots, there are no designated areas. Please be mindful of spaces reserved for those with special needs. During Service New Creation Church is a welcoming church. As you enter the worship center, ushers and greeters will be on hand to assist you. In addition, you'll find friendly, helpful people at the information center in the main lobby. Feel free to find a seat in the four sections of the sanctuary. Please be mindful of seats or areas reserved for those who are handicapped. After an opening prayer, our worship team leads the congregation in singing and the lyrics of each song are projected on video screens. Visitors are free to sing along with us or simply observe. In addition, everything that happens during our worship services is clearly explained for the benefit of our guests. It is also worth noting that we typically serve Communion (The Lord's Supper) on the first Sunday of each month. When we do so, a pastor clearly explains the significance of this practice. Typically, the sermon is presented by our senior pastor, Dr. Herbert L. Banks. However, there are times when one of the other pastors or a guest minister will present the message. Pastor Banks is widely known for his practical, down to earth, Bible-centered teaching that helps us apply God's timeless truth to our everyday lives. And you'll love his keen sense of humor! New Creation Church receives one offering during each service. Visitors are under no obligation nor are they pressured to give an offering. You can give online if you so desire. After Service Following the service, Pastor Banks is usually available to greet visitors in the main lobby. In addition, those who don't have to leave immediately are free to enjoy the fellowship of those in attendance. We sincerely hope you enjoy your visit to New Creation Church!

Children Ministry

"Let the little children come unto me." Luke 18:16 At New Creation Church, we are committed to reaching the next generation. Children are welcome participants in all worship services. Here children will learn more about the importance of who their Lord and Savior Jesus Christ is, and what He means in their lives. Everything we do in our children's ministry is focused on bringing children to a real and active relationship with God at an early age. They will enjoy an exciting, fun filled time of fellowship with carefully selected curriculum, biblically based activities, crafts, games, bible blitzes and so much more, all in a safe, Christian environment. At New Creation, the children's ministry is overflowing with opportunities for children to learn and experience new and exciting ways to grow closer to Jesus! Sunday School Each Sunday morning at10:20 am children's classes are led by loving adults in exciting, attractive, well equipped classrooms. Children will learn the story of our Christian faith through age appropriate crafts, activities, storytelling and hands on experiences. Children's Church Children ages 3 to 5th grade are invited to attend Children's Church during the 11:00 a.m. adult worship service. They will experience their own exciting praise and worship fellowship in the upstairs children's sanctuary. In addition, the lessons learned in Sunday School are enhanced during this time, with an accredited curriculum. Nutritious snacks are served to the children before they leave. In an effort to support and encourage family worship, children will join the adult service every first Sunday of the month. Nursery We have nurseries available at all worship services. The nurseries are located in the lower level of the Children's Wing. Our nursery area accommodates infants to toddlers from newborn to 18 months and children from 18 months to 2 years of age. The children are cared for in attractive, well equipped nurseries with loving adult volunteers. Wednesday Activities Basketball Program free for everyone Basketball Program free for everyone. Ages 5 through 5th grade. This program will teach children the basis skills, team player skills along with learning how to apply biblical truths to their everyday lives. A time of praise and worship, fellowship and snacks will be provided. A Children's Bible Study This is a fun mid-week Bible study for children in the 1st - 5th grade that encourages children to focus on the one most important thing in life, a growing relationship with Jesus. JAM teaches children how to use the Bible and learn to grow in their faith by learning to help others around them and in the community. JAM aims to help children grow as disciples of Jesus Christ. JAM is held from 6pm to 8pm. Annual Events Promotional Sunday Promotion Sunday takes place in June corresponding with the grade that they will be in after summer break. This is a very special time for all the children because they move up to the next Sunday School Class that corresponds to their current school grade. Vacation Bible School VBS is a week of fun, fellowship, learning and worship. Vacation Bible School is an exciting time. VBS includes children ages 5 years old to 5th grade are. Special Programs Seasonal Activities Children from Kindergarten through 5th grade will do many fun activities throughout the year. Some of the activities include: "Wacky" Wednesdays, Harvest Fest, Mission Days, Vacation Bible School, Birthday Party for Jesus, and Children's Choir rehearses for Christmas and Easter Cantatas.

Prayer Ministry

Welcome to the Prayer Ministries website at New Creation Church of God, where we are intentional about seeing prayer become foundational in the lives of believers. Our focus on prayer is a launching pad for all the other ministries at New Creation. When God gives us a great task, which he has at New Creation, He expects us to seek Him with all our heart, soul, mind and strength before we endeavor to do the task, because we realize completely that His Spirit, not our might or power, will accomplish the work. You are invited to join us for our weekly opportunities for corporate prayer: Tuesday morning, 8:30-9:30 a.m. in the Choir Room. Wednesday evening, 5:30-6:15 p.m. in the Cry Room (Off the Sanctuary). Thursday morning, 8:30-9:30 a.m. in the Choir Room. In Matthew 18:19 Jesus tells us ". . . if two of you agree on earth about anything that they may ask, it shall be done for them by my Father who is in heaven." Please come and partner with us as we seek God together. You may also desire to join us on weekly prayer walks on our beautiful grounds, or around the building. These are held on Fridays with the time being open during daylight hours. Prayer walking involves praying on-site; praying focused prayers for our church, neighborhoods, and Flint community. We are encouraged to listen to the Lord as we walk for His impressions as to what to pray, or using a prayer guide provided by the Prayer Ministry Team. It is our intent to be persistent and to see things change. For more information just call the church office at 732-0500. Volunteers are needed for the first organized Phone Prayer Chain. The Prayer Ministry Team is seeking serious prayer warriors for this much needed aspect to our prayer ministry. You may contact Hattie Moore or Ron Sullivan through the church office at 732-0500 or you may sign up at the Information Desk in the main foyer. New Creation maintains a Prayer & Praise sheet, found each week as an insert in the Sunday bulletin. Requests may be called to the church office at 732-0500 (Carol Gooch). We endeavor to be faithful to lift these requests to the Lord individually and corporately in our prayer sessions. We love to give God praise for the answers to prayer! New Creation has a small Prayer Room where individuals and small groups can meet to pray. The room is located at the very front of the church near the baptistry. It is a quiet spot created to honor the memory of Brother Ernie Walters, a long time passionate prayer warrior. New Creation Church of God is seeking God first in our mission to reach the lost and make disciples. Join us in the journey. You will be glad you did. Small Groups Ministry

Small Group Ministry

SMALL GROUP OVERVIEW God designed people for community. Each of us has a desire "to belong" somewhere. Seeking community is often what brings many of us to New Creation Church. It will be the relationships that we build that keep us coming back to New Creation Church. At New Creation Church, we understand that worship celebration on Sunday is uplifting, a time to celebrate God, and an important part of our spiritual growth but it will not bring about life transformation. It is in Small Groups where life transformation occurs. What is a Small Group? A group of 4 to 12 individuals with common interests who meet regularly for fellowship, encouragement, accountability, and application of the Word of God. Why do we have Small Groups? They follow the biblical model for growth (e.g. Colossians 3:16). They provide the level of fellowship that is essential for winning in life. How do Small Groups work? They are facilitated by a servant leader and focus on a common format that includes: Applying points from the Sunday sermons and relevant Scriptures to our lives Giving and receiving encouragement and support A time of sharing praises and prayer requests Periodic social events and acts of service When do Small Groups meet? They meet weekly or every other week at a set time. Meeting times range from an hour to an hour and a half. Most meetings are held in the evening or when mutually agreed upon by the members. Where do Small Groups meet? They are typically hosted in homes that are in or near your community. A listing of current Small Groups can be found by contacting the church office. Usher_Greeter Ministry

Usher / Greeter / Communion Preparation Ministry

"Better is one day in your courts than a thousand elsewhere; I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of the wicked." Psalm 84:10 One of the most visible and active ministries of New Creation Church of God is our Ushers and Greeters Ministry. Each member volunteers for one or several Sundays of the month in which they are available to minister. A sign up sheet is maintained to assure proper coverage each Sunday. What is an Usher? They are first of all a watchman who watches over the congregation in order to anticipate any needs and prevent disruption, following the scripture in I Corinthians 14:40 that everything should be done in a fitting and orderly way. What are the duties of an Usher? Greet worshippers, making every attempt to help them feel welcome and at ease. Escort member and guests to their seats. Distribute materials related to the service such as bulletin, hymnals, handouts, etc. Receive offerings; serve communion. Maintain alertness for any emergency that may arise, relieving the need or contacting the person(s) needed to provide the proper assistance. What is a Greeter? Greeters are the first people to welcome regular attendees or a new person or family. Our church can be unfamiliar and overwhelming to many. The Greeters smile and hand shake can make a difference in peoples decision to come back. It is our attempt to show that this is a welcoming, love-filled place. Smiles prepare the heart to receive the Word by letting the new people know that we are really glad they came through our doors. What are the duties of a Greeter? Our greeters provide the first introduction for new people to the layout and services at New Creation. With the Ushers, Greeters provide the first assistance to the handicapped, people with an armload of packages, Moms and Dads carrying infants, and others who forgot where their class meets. Greeters are stationed at every door to provide a welcome. Our Greeters have the answers to all those questions like where is the Junior High class room, etc. Even though our church is very friendly, to new people it is a room full of strangers. Greeters can make a difference by introducing new people to a few friends, the Ushers or the Pastor. What are the characteristics of an Usher or Greeter? A person who always maintains a warm, friendly manner to welcome worshippers. A person attentive to whats going on in service and who is ready to meet needs. Someone able to stand at assigned post until the Head Usher gives release. Prompt in arriving. Willingness to participate in prayer with other Ushers/ Greeters before services. Someone who will make a special effort to be acquainted with the building to provide direction to worshippers. Some who will make a special effort to get to know members of the congregation; note those absent and pass the information along to Care Ministry. Greeters must have an infectious smile! If you are interested in becoming one of these special people that feels called to the office of Usher or Greeter, please contact the church office at 810-732-0500. Men and women can be a part of this ministry as well as teens. Communion Preparation This needed service involves faithful volunteers preparing the elements for our Lords Supper observances, usually held on the first Sunday of the month. These volunteers set up trays of juice and crackers. They keep track of the supplies needed to carry out the ministry. Elements are set up in the upper Fellowship Hall kitchen before taking them to the sanctuary. They prepare the communion table and pray over the elements which they set up. They clean up after each communion service. If you would like to participate in this activity, please contact the church office at 810-732-0500. Information Desk The Information Desk is the communication hub of New Creation Church. Located in the main lobby, it is the go to place for individuals to sign up for the activities going on at NCC and to have questions answered. The desk is staffed by volunteers on Sunday, who keep abreast of needed information to offer to those who come by. There is always a need for volunteers for this ministry. Interested? THE HOLY TRINITYWe believe in one living and true God, eternal and of infinite power, wisdom, goodness and righteousness. He is a faithful God who is the Creator and Preserver of all things. In the unity of this Godhead there are three persons of one substance with identical qualities and attributes: The Father (God), the Son (Jesus Christ), and the Holy Spirit.Genesis 1:1, Jeremiah 10:10, 1 Timothy 1:17, John 1:1, 2, John 5:18, John 10:30THE SON OF GODWe believe in the divine nature of Jesus Christ, God's only Son, who was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin, Mary. Christ was both fully man and fully God. He walked our earth, suffered at the hands of men, was crucified, died and buried as a sacrifice for the sins of all men and women everywhere. His purpose was to restore our relationship to God which was broken by sin (disobedience). Christ rose from the dead and ascended into heaven in full victory over Satan and sin. This work is both instantaneous and gradual (or progressive). It begins when a person is saved and continues throughout life. But there is a second definite work of grace after salvation, a time when the believer is convicted of a "lukewarm Christian life" and looks to Christ with a total commitment and dedication to "Christ-like" living. There is no black-and-white time line involved; for some this occurs soon following salvation, for others much time elapses. But for all believers, sanctification is the will of God. Sanctification is the point in life when a believer renounces the desire to live for self and desires to live totally for the glory of God. The believer is then empowered by the Holy Spirit, enabling him to live a life of holiness. History of New Creation Church

In March of 2006 Flint Community Church of God entered into a contract to purchase New Community Church of God. Shortly thereafter, the staff of New Community Church left the organization to minister at different congregations. This opened the door for a miraculous move of God.New Community Church had been in existence for Sixteen years but the time had come to go in a different direction. Along with the entire pastoral staff gone, members leaving in droves, the congregation was financially broke. Unable to keep up the mortgage payments, laboring in debt and no one to lead, the Elder Board of New Community Church heard the clear voice of God to join with Flint Community Church of God.New Community Church a predominately White congregation held a series of Town Hall Type meetings and invited Pastor Banks of Flint Community Church of God to be a part. This allowed the members of New Community Church to meet Pastor Banks and ask questions. The meetings were emotionally charged. There was outrage to say the least that the leaders of New Community had allowed the congregation to get in this predicament without informing them. Furthermore, they were upset at being asked to join with a group of people they knew nothing about. Black people and White people didnt worship together in this town.In the meantime, Flint Community Church of God, a predominately African-American congregation established in 1930, was bursting at the seams. They needed space to house this growing ministry. Pastor Banks had assumed the pastorate there in October of 2004 and the Lord was displaying his favor in a marvelous way. Flint Community Church of God had purchased land around their 1701 Harrison Street location, hired Ted Hu Architect Firm to draw up plans only to discover that it was not enough land to build the ministry facilities needed.In February 2006, Pastor Banks attended a prayer meeting at the temporary offices of Living Word Church of God. Prior to the meeting he was discussing with Bill Bridgman, Pastor of Calvert Park Church of God in Burton, Michigan his concerns. Pastor Bridgman said he would be in prayer concerning this matter. As they were receiving prayer request, Pastor Jim Davey of New Community requested prayer for the problems facing his congregation. Pastor Davey stated they had to decide whether to lay off staff, merge with Valley School, or sell the property. Pastor Bill Bridgman pointed to Pastor Banks and said to Jim Davey, Pastor Banks needs a building. Pastor Davey asked Pastor Banks, You need a building? I said yes and Im not joking. Pastor Davey said, Im not laughing, I will have someone call you. Two weeks later Elder Lucy Ham called to invite our leadership over to view the property. Immediately, Flint Community Church of God begins to pray for Gods uncommon favor to purchase the New Community Church Property.Through a series of God ordained events, New Community Church dissolved and Flint Community Church of God took over the property located at 3472 Lennon Road in Flint Township. The former members of New Community Church were free to go wherever God led them. A few of them decided to stay with Flint Community Church of God. Those few along with others in the area, hearing about different races coming together to worship God, came together as one church on June 25, 2006. The congregation numbered over 500 members and five weeks later selected the name New Creation Church of God based upon.II Corinthians 5:17.The mission statement of New Creation Church of God is to "Intentionally model the life of Christ in every face we see."

New Creation Church Clothes Closet

The New Creation Church Clothes Closet, which is located in our new Resource Center building across the parking lot from the chruch, is for anyone in need of clothing. You do not have to be a member of our church to benefit from this ministry.

We will accept any clean, new or gently used seasonal clothing, shoes, books, bedding, toys, accessories, and household items. Please continue to drop off donations at the church or the Resource Center.

Food Pantry No Frame

New Creation Food Pantry

The New Creation Church Food Pantry, which is located in our new Resource Center building located across the parking lot from the church, is for anyone in need of food. You do not have to be a member of the church to benefit from this ministry, but to be eligible to receive food monthly (3rd Thursday form 9 am to 1 pm) , you will need to provide ID and proof of income (e.g. SSI, disability, or pension statement; employment check stub, etc.) so that eligibility may be determined.

Donations of non-perishable food and personal hygiene items may be dropped of at the church or taken directly to the Food Pantry during the times listed below. Please be sure that your donations are not outdated.
